The Role of Advocacy

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In The News
The Role of Advocacy
One of the greatest drawbacks on any person who becomes involved in advocacy is the silent majority state of complacency. Those who see problems: But, though past experience, are unable to foresee a solution in the horizon.
It could be those who may have been victim of mistreatment, and may be afraid to rock the boat for fear of reprisal. I could be those that have the attitude that it could not happen to me so why bother. On the other hand there are those who have faced hardship and are standing up to fight another day. They are those that chip at the wall of complacency.
If anyone is going to meet real success in advocacy, he or she has to reach out to people who share common interest. The Internet makes the task of identifying people who stare common interest easier. I also provide an opportunity to hike on bandwagons.
If any success is going to be attained in addressing some of the concerns that various and diversified groups are seeking to address we need to create an awareness medium on an international level. There are common elements to situation certain Americans are facing that similar but not necessary the same as what Canadians are facing. The same could be said of most countries in the world.
I've learned a long time ago that the best way to combat abuse is to create an awareness of who the abusers are. However this has created its own set of problems, if there are no consequences for making false abuse allegations.
I will not expand on what I observed over a number of years in a role as a political activist because it would take away from what I am seeking to achieve with this posting.
My goal is to establish a link with various groups in your country that would give me access to a combine membership of at least 10,000 members. What I have found in my involvement with Internet based groups is that each groups has its leaders and it followers. What is important to success is to find where the leadership is and to work with that leadership toward common objectives. Having become bilingual at an early age, I find difficult to translate certain idioms such as "l'union fait la force" the closes that I can come to is, if I got it right, "power is in number". It is with this in mind that I am attempting to chart my activities with this in mind. Acting on my own would take a lot of energy to find groups that are actively seeking to attain similar goals, it would be easier if I could tap of the energy and experience of others and more beneficial to the cause if I could tap on the willingness of others to assist me.
It is for this reason that I am asking you to bring to my attention groups that I could request to join to attain the objective that I have set above either by way of reply to this posting or privately by communicating with me privately using my email
Besides assisting me in this endeavor any comments, observations, suggestions, etc, as to the approach that I am envisaging would be most welcomed.
Message from Guy on Rally
As Canadian, I have been invited to address the Washington Rally on Saturday morning July 24.  It was an honor to accept the invitation.  As other speaker will address child protection services workers abuse of authority, I will share some of my research with Canada's children's aid societies that perform similar function in Canadian's provinces as cps does in the States in the US.
The focus of my presentation will be Canada's judicial gags whose interest does it protect.  This will be based from the point of view of a non-lawyer who has appeared before most levels of Canadian court as a self-represented litigant and sometimes acting as agent for client before various federal and provincial board, tribunal and commission over a period of some forty five year of judicial advocacy; some forty five years as a political activist. Its kind of what you get when someone start as a ten year old.
As single with no biological children, I was never directly held accountable by CAS.  I am currently assisting a person who is seeking a judicial review form a CAS agency and a Provincial Board who oversees the conduct of those agencies.  My involvement with him is that under the understanding that he consults a lawyer.  Whether he does or not, I am advising him that the services offered pro bone they could be considered legal advice should be verified by a lawyer who I am not.
I also have a bone to pick with the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario by way of judicial review as well before the Ontario's Divisional Court.  This case involves an application to the tribunal from the conduct of a member of the Ontario Landlord and Tenant Board.
Unbelievable Court Decision
As the /Globe and Mail/ newspaper [Toronto] reports:
_*A recent court decision in Canada should send chills down every parent's spine. *_The ruling is so out of bounds that the news story
sounds like a parody -- but it isn't. A Canadian judge ruled that a 12-year-old girl was "excessively" punished when her father told her she could not go on a school camping trip because she had broken rules for use of the Internet.
"First, the father banned his 12-year-old daughter from going online after she posted photos of herself on a dating site. Then she allegedly had a row with her stepmother, so the father said his girl couldn't go on a school trip.
"The girl took the matter to the court -- and won what lawyers say was an unprecedented judgment.
"Madam Justice Suzanne Tessier of the Quebec Superior Court ruled on Friday [June 13] that the father couldn't discipline his daughter by barring her from the school trip."
Background information from Guy Babineau
from email dated 07/06/2009
I am seeking at least1000 American to sign the petition by September 14 here is a message that I am posting on other groups in the U.S.
Fight ops injustice by supporting Ontario's Canada fight CAS injustices
The body of the message reads:
Some Canadians are facing similar problems at the hand of workers of CAS agencies as our neighbor of South of the border are facing with workers of cps agencies.  Eight of Canada’s ten provinces have seen fit to provide a review of CAS agencies conduct through the Office of Provincial Ombudsmen.  Ontario is one of the last two provinces to withhold such jurisdiction.
Before the last general provincial election Ms. Andrea Horwath had tabled a private Member Bill in the Legislative Assembly a Bill that died on the order paper when the election was called.  Undaunted by government inaction, she reintroduce a similar Bill in June of last year.  The next general election is schedule for sometimes in October 2011 some two years from now.  We should not let government inaction prevent this Bill form becoming law.  A petition has been setup on the internet seeking support for Bill 93.  Nine of our American friends have seen fit to support this petition.  I challenge nine hundred ninety one of you who care about justice to follow their lead.  Let’s see 1000 American name to that petition by September 14, the day that the Ontario Legislature is set to reconvene.
There are a lot of groups in your county as concerned about cps agencies workers’ conduct as we as Canadian are concerned about CAS agencies workers’ conduct.  Supporting you neighbors of the North, you could send a message to the state authorities that certain things are not acceptable and no one should be forced to go to court because agencies are not exercising due diligence regarding the duties the owe to the children of your nation.
Go to the site http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/Ontario-Bill93   and take action today.
That action may prevent broken heart of some children in the days to come.  Show us Canadian that you care enough not only about the children of your Nation but you also care enough about our children to endorse the petition.  Having done so encourage others to do the same, encourage other groups to support this great cause.
It is today’s action that could make a better tomorrow for many children.
GranPa do you think that I can reach my goal?
